Instrumentation

The Spyder’s instrumentation has been updated over the years and is one of the components that evolved the most.

The evolution can be divided into several generations.

1st Generation (2008 to 2012)

In the first generation of the Spyder, BRP aimed to make the transition to three wheels easier by using familiar and simple instrumentation. There is no connectivity, audio, or navigation integration.

Versions: GS, RS, F3.

Type: two analogue gauges (speedometer and tachometer) and a small, round, back lit monochrome LCD (white) in the centre. It was used on the base F3 and the *F3‑S until 2017 (outside the USA) and 2018 (USA).

Information: speed, engine RPM, coolant temperature, odometer, trip/elapsed time counter, gear position, fuel level, clock, and temperature.

Connectivity: none.

Navigation: none.

2nd Generation (2013 to 2018)

A new hybrid instrumentation layout with a color multifunction display, more suitable for touring.

Versions: RS, ST, RT (up to 2017), F3 (up to 2018).

Type: two analogue gauges (speedometer and tachometer) and a small square color TFT display in the centre.

Information: speed, engine RPM, coolant temperature, odometer, trip/elapsed time counter, gear position, fuel level, clock, temperature, cruise control, riding mode, heated grips/seats (except F3 base and F3‑S), and audio system (except F3 base and F3‑S).

Connectivity: Bluetooth for audio and calls (requires audio system, therefore not available on F3 base and F3‑S).

Navigation: none.

3rd Generation (2018...)

The third generation introduced three different instrument clusters.

4.5 inch display (2019…)

For the base F3 and the Ryker. A 4.5 inch monochrome display with amber back lighting.

Versions: base F3, Ryker.

Type: 4.5‑inch monochrome back lit LCD (amber)

Information: speed, engine RPM, coolant temperature, odometer, trip/elapsed time counter, gear position, fuel level, range, average consumption, clock, and riding mode

Connectivity: none

Navigation: none

7.6 inch display (2019 to 2023)

Used only on the F3‑S, this is a 7.6 inch monochrome LCD with amber back lighting and a minimalist design similar to the Ryker’s.

Versions: F3‑S (Special Series editions from 2020 onward use the 7.8‑inch display).

Type: 7.6‑inch monochrome back lit LCD (amber).

Information: speed, engine RPM, coolant temperature, odometer, trip/elapsed time counter, gear position, fuel level, range, average consumption, clock, temperature, cruise control, and riding mode.

Connectivity: none.

Navigation: none.

7.8 inch display (2018 to 2023)

A modernized instrumentation system with a wide color TFT display, eliminating analogue gauges.

Versions: F3 (except F3 base and F3‑S), RT. F3‑S Special Series from 2020 onward also use this display.

Type: 7.8 inch color TFT composed of two contiguous screens, non‑touch.

Information: speed, engine RPM, coolant temperature, odometer, trip distance, gear position, fuel level, range, average consumption, clock, battery voltage, cruise control, riding mode, heated grips/seats, and audio system

Connectivity: USB and Bluetooth (BRP Connect)

Navigation: yes, via smartphone apps (Android and Apple) through BRP Connect.

With the launch of the new RT in 2020, this system received a user‑interface update to improve practicality and readability.

4th Generation (2024…)

A new, more powerful and faster system with a 10.25 inch display. It offers improved visibility and resolution, a touch interface, and supports Apple CarPlay via USB. Retrofit is not possible on pre‑2024 models.

Versions: F3, RT, Canyon.

Type: 10.25 inch color TFT (single screen) with touch interface.

Information: speed, engine RPM, coolant temperature, odometer, trip distance, gear position, fuel level, range, average consumption, clock, battery voltage, cruise control, riding mode, heated grips/seats, and audio system.

Connectivity: USB and Bluetooth (BRP Connect and Apple CarPlay). Also supports Wi‑Fi for OTA (Over‑the‑Air) updates.

Natively on the instrument cluster (simple topographic map), or via Apple CarPlay on the smartphone (USB connection required, along with Bluetooth headsets).

BRP has stated since launch that Android Auto support was under development, but as of early 2026 it is still not supported, likely due to licensing restrictions from Google for motorcycles and trikes.

BRP uses this same system across several other divisions, including snowmobiles, jet skis, electric motorcycles, and some off‑road vehicles.

BRP Connect system

This was BRP’s first system for smartphone integration via Bluetooth and USB.

It integrates phone functions (calls, notifications, audio playback) and allows mirroring of certain apps on the instrument cluster.

Supported apps are limited: Dash Radio, Fobo Bike, Cardo Connect, Genius Maps, Sygic, Rever, AccuWeather, and BRP GO!.

Most apps require a USB connection, including BRP GO!, which provides turn‑by‑turn navigation with waypoints.

Navigation via BRP GO! is supported on the 3rd generation (7.8‑inch) and is expected to be supported on the 4th generation (10.25‑inch) in a system update estimated for Spring 2026. Until then, only basic navigation (topographic mapping) is available on the device itself or through the smartphone via Apple CarPlay.
